WELCOME FRIENDS

Dear Wisconsin Fencing Community,

It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as the President of the Wisconsin Division. I am truly excited to begin this journey with all of you and to work together to strengthen and grow the sport we all love.

Fencing is much more than a sport it is a lifelong pursuit of discipline, respect, resilience, and excellence. It teaches us to think strategically, compete with integrity, and continuously challenge ourselves to improve. Whether you are a beginner taking your first lesson, a parent supporting your child, a referee, a coach, a volunteer, or an elite athlete representing our state on the national and international stage, you are an important part of our fencing family.

My vision for the Wisconsin Division is to build a stronger, more connected, and more inclusive fencing community where every member has the opportunity fair play, learn, compete, and succeed. Together, we can create an environment that supports athletes of all ages and experience levels while encouraging sportsmanship, personal growth, and lifelong participation in fencing.

Over the coming years, I hope we can achieve several important goals together:

● Expand opportunities for local, regional, and developmental competitions throughout Wisconsin.

● Increase participation by introducing fencing to new schools, universities, and communities.

● Support coaches, referees, volunteers, and clubs through education, collaboration, and professional development.

● Develop programs that encourage youth participation while also expanding opportunities for veterans and adult fencers.

● Create more training camps, clinics, referee seminars, and educational events featuring experienced coaches and officials.

● Strengthen communication, transparency, and collaboration between the Division, clubs, coaches, athletes, and families.

● Recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of our athletes, coaches, referees, volunteers, and clubs.

● Foster a welcoming, respectful, safe, and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and inspired to contribute.

I firmly believe that the greatest strength of our Division is its people. By working together, listening to one another, and embracing new ideas, we can continue building a fencing community that serves as a model for excellence across the country.

I encourage each of you to become involved. Attend our tournaments, volunteer at events, participate in clinics, support your local clubs, and share your ideas for how we can continue improving. Your voice matters, and your involvement will help shape the future of fencing in Wisconsin.

Thank you for the confidence you have placed in me. I look forward to meeting many of you at competitions, clinics, and community events throughout the season. Together, we will continue to grow the sport, inspire the next generation of fencers, and build a Division that every member is proud to call home.

I wish each of you a successful, healthy, and rewarding fencing season.

With sincere appreciation,

Abbas Fadel
